Happy 2019, everyone! Is anyone else super freaking relieved that 2018 has (finally) been left by the wayside?
Seriously, it feels like the last twelve months have spanned twice as much time on the space time continuum, and I could not be more excited for a fresh start. I’ve become a big fan of the whole “begin as you mean to go on” mentality in the last couple of years, and setting my intentions for the coming year is just one more way I’m embracing that principle today. In no particular order, here are my 2019 resolutions:
- Come to a consensus with my husband about where we want to move.
- Apply for at least five different part-time editing gigs.
- Get rejected 100 times.
- Begin volunteering again, ideally in a way that aligns with my professional goals.
- Determine what part-time work outside the home I might like to do and begin applying for jobs.
My business plan for this year includes:
- Complete the first draft of my Web Girl Vigilantes manuscript, do one full revision pass on my own, and hand the manuscript off to my CPs for additional feedback.
- Finish every book on my research reading list for my YA thriller, Renegade, and determine what else I need to research before beginning a first draft.
- Attend a relevant conference or, alternatively, sign up for another Wordsmith Retreat in 2020.
- Revise “Feed,” a short story I recently finished drafting, and submit it to at least five different literary magazines, anthologies, or publications.
What are your New Years Resolutions? Or, if you don’t make resolutions, what are you hoping to accomplish in the coming year?
