Editorial Services

Thank you for considering me to be your editor! I’m eager to work with you to make your stories the best that they can be and to help you on your road to publication. I’m most qualified to edit all genres of YA and MG, realistic literary and commercial women’s fiction, contemporary romance, and adult SFF that’s more character-based and less technical.

Please use the contact form below to submit your initial request. In addition to your first and last name—or the name that you’d like me to call you—your email, and the type of editorial services you’re seeking, please include your manuscript’s title, genre and word count, and a brief summary in the paragraph box below. I will respond by email, and we can discuss your expectations, your scheduling needs, and any questions you might have in that space.

Note: All submitted manuscripts must be double-spaced in Times New Roman 12 point font with page numbers included. I accept either .doc or .docx files with both your last name and the story’s title in the document name.

Services Offered:

Developmental edit

I’ll review and evaluate the big picture elements in your manuscript, such as plot, character, voice, structure, and pacing and help you determine what’s working and what needs improvements. You’ll receive an edit letter (2 pages minimum) detailing my observations and critiques after one thorough pass of your story, as well as the opportunity to ask questions and bounce ideas off me for up to one month. Perfect for writers who’ve revised exclusively on their own or for writers who’ve revised extensively with critique partners and require a fresh set of eyes.

Copyediting

I’ve worked as a copy editor in various industries, and I’ve developed a very keen eye for identifying surface level mistakes in a piece of writing. I’ll review your manuscript for spelling and grammatical errors, inconsistencies in story elements such as character descriptions or setting details, and basic formatting issues. You’ll receive my edits as track changes in an MS Word file of your manuscript, as well as a short sum-up of any major or repetitive issues I find. Perfect for writers who need one last polish from a fresh set of eyes before beginning to query or submit their work.

Query Edit

Your query is one of the most important tools in your arsenal, which is why I’m committed to helping you polish it until it shines. I’ll do up to three revision passes of your query letter so that we can both be sure it’s as eye-catching and tightly written as possible before you reach out to any agents. You’ll receive a short write-up (1 page or less) explaining what’s working and not working within the query, as well as my line-by-line critique in the document itself. Perfect for writers who are about to jump into the query trenches, or for writers who have begun querying already and aren’t seeing the results they want.

$40 (includes up to three reads)

Submission package

Sometimes you need more than just a query to catch an agent’s eye, and that’s where my submission package comes into play. I’ll review your query, synopsis, and the first ten pages or first chapter of your manuscript–whichever comes first. You’ll receive a short write-up (1-2 pages minimum) explaining what’s working and what’s not working within each of these documents, as well as my line-by-line critiques. Perfect for writers who haven’t seen the results that they’re looking for with their queries alone, or for writers who want to go a bit deeper in preparing to query or submit.

$70 for one round of edits on query letter, synopsis, and first 10 pages/first chapter, whichever comes first. Additional rounds are $20 each.

Sensitivity reading:

Although I’m happy to include some sensitivity feedback as part of your developmental edit, you can also hire me specifically to focus on verifying the lived experiences of characters with either generalized anxiety disorder or Tourette’s Syndrome. I’ll read through your whole manuscript and provide you with an edit letter explaining what’s working for me and what needs improvement, as well as some textual examples of moments I find problematic or in need of correction. Check out my Reedsy page for a list of some of the books I’ve worked on!

Please note: My lived experience is not the same as any other person’s lived experience, regardless of whether we share the same diagnoses or not, and my critiques do not represent a guaranteed stamp of approval among other individuals with either GAD or TS.

$250 for manuscripts under 100k, $300 for manuscripts between 100k and 120k, and $20 per every 10 thousand words beyond 120k.

If none of my services are quite what you’re looking for, or if you’re interested in working with me but have concerns about pricing, please don’t hesitate to reach out using the contact form below. I’d be happy to discuss other editorial options with you.
