Things I’m Thankful For

I’ve noticed a lot of these going around, and I figured it wouldn’t be the world’s worst idea to write one up, a time capsule of sorts so I remember what I’m grateful for now, if not all of these things come around next year.

1.  My family
I love my family to death, and this past year has not been easy on any of us.  There’ve been health problems and fights and a death, but we still go on standing by each other.  It’s really something, and it’s never more evidenced than it is when things AREN’T going well.

2.  My friends
To my friends both at home and at college:  you guys totally rock my world.  I love to come home and spend time with the guys and girls I don’t get to see for nine months of the year, and I’m constantly surprised that we still have no problems talking to each other.  I know we’ll be friends for, if not forever, then at least a good long time.  My friends at college, but especially my awesome roommates are half the reason my experience has been so good.  You guys are people I never expected to meet, and now can’t imagine not knowing.

3.  My boyfriend
I love him more than I could ever imagine.  If I had to name one of the best parts of living where I do for nine months of the year, it would have to be the ability to see him every week.  Even though we’ve only been going out two years this January, I’m confident that there will be many, many more ahead of us.  I never thought I would be so lucky as to find someone who loves me almost as unconditionally as my family does.  It’s pretty special.

4.  My home
I’ve been hearing a lot about the Iraq and Afghanistan war this holiday season, and though I hate to bring it up, I can’t help but think of how lucky I am to be able to live in a place where I not only have everything and more that I need, but also more safety.  I may critique our country, but I sure am happy to live here.

5.  My writing
I’ve never been so grateful for my writing as I have this year.  I had several wonderful critique partners who are making my manuscript a million times better, and with any lucky I’ll be able to further my goal of becoming an author someday.

If I somehow forgot to include something, my apologies.  Just know that I’m incredibly grateful for all the blessings I have.
