The Recruited: Update

In the time since I’ve last blogged, I’ve taken a huge step forward with my novel The Recruited.  The other day, I received a partial request for the first 50 pages of the story.

I literally cannot begin to express how thrilled I am, both that someone is taking an interest in this project and that the query and new first five pages work well enough to garner attention.  When I got the news I was running around my empty apartment, trying to dial my mom with shaking hands just so I’d have someone to tell.

Though I’m well aware that this is a big step in the right direction, I know I still have many, many more steps to take.  That being said, it’s encouraging to think that I might get somewhere with The Recruited, and that all the editing and perfecting and polishing I’ve been doing hasn’t been in vain.

My parents requested that they look over the fifty pages before I send them back, and their help has been absolutely invaluable.  I have a totally awesome family.  I’ll just say it here.

Anyway, my goal is to have those 50 pages sent back by midweek so I can begin the waiting process anew.  The only downside to all this is that it’s been damn near impossible to get any work done on my current WIP, just because I’ve been drawn back into the world of editing a manuscript that’s already finished.  With any luck, I’ll be working on the Back to Roots rewrite again by Friday.

I’m sorry I can’t go into more detail, but I’m trying not to say too much in case things fall through.  Let’s just say I’ve got my fingers crossed, and any good luck or good thoughts you can send my way I’d certainly appreciate.
